Meals-on-Wheels provides food to seniors age 60+ and their spouses who are homebound and unable to prepare meals for themselves. "Homebound" is someone unable to leave home without assistance.
What the Volunteers Do
Our volunteers will go in pairs once a month during their lunch hour (unpaid) and deliver 10 meals to a small area. The volunteer driver will use his or her own vehicle to facilitate the delivery of these meals. The runner will actually deliver the food up to the door of each home. If you would like to work in pairs and switch off driving each month that would be great! The initial commitment is 3 times (3 months). But if you can only commit to one month, we would be happy to facilitate that as well!

Did You Know
• The fastest growing segment of our population is age 85 and older.• Beginning in 2015, one person in Utah will turn 65 years old every 23 minutes.
• Utah's senior population (65 and older) will grow to 482,542 by the year 2030.
• Meals-on-Wheels allows seniors to stay in their homes and avoid living in costly institutions.
• One year of hot meals from Meals-on-Wheels costs less than one day in an acute care hospital.

This sounds like a great program. I would like to be involved. :)
